Anyone know of a paint that is good for use on a window, somewhat translucent? It's for a professional business that needs a children's theme painted on it, but ultimately removeable.

...not sure if this is technically a Grumble question, but figured it's worth a shot.

Nice! I'm forwarding this link to my sister, who is an interior painter, and asked me if I knew of a paint like this... and I was sure someone on The-G would know! Thank you! :)

Translucent paint

Could you use friskit or other masking film. Easy to cut on glass, comes off pretty easily.

It's been years since I've had an aquarium, but there used to be a paint that you could apply to the outside of a fish tank that would crystalize as it dried. The patterns were quite pretty.

I don't remember how easy it was to remove, but even though it wasn't in contact with the water it would have had to be non-toxic.

A spray on product

I called RustOleum about one of their products back in 09. I had some questions about their product which comes in a spray can.

The Frosted Glass finish will cover about 10 - 12 square feet; it will not yellow with exposure to sunlight. It will scrape off with a razor blade or come off with acetone, if it's on glass. If it's on a clear plastic, the Frosted Glass might permanently cloud the surface. Regular light cleaning won't hurt this coating.

Thanks for the follow up responses everyone. My sister is monitoring this thread on her own.

Does the above "frosted glass finish" come in colors, I assume?

RustOleum Product

I don't remember if it comes in colors. I'd call their product support line. At the time I was just looking for a product that would create a basic non-color frost effect... kind of like etched glass. Good luck!

almost any paint will come off glass even krylon spray paint.
I think you mean translucent not transparent.

Liquidtex makes a paint that is Called Glossies you can brush it, airbrush it or use a roller. It comes in a transleucent & opauqe. Not as easy to remove but can be scraped off with a razor blade. One shot lettering enamel can also be applied thinned out and removable with a razor blade.
You can also take temper paint mix with dish washing soap and thin it out to have a translucent paint effect roll on or airbrush.

Who referred to "transparent"? :)

Will pass this info on to my sister! Thanks!

We sell a cool paint product for creating painted designs that can be stuck to a window & then peeled back off and saved. Designed primarily for kids by Pebeo called Arti Stick. Might be just the thing you're looking for.
