I just got a notice about being nice here on The Grumble. It said: Notice To Franny: and then went on about following the rules.
Have I done or said something to someone that was offensive or off color or mean. If you think I have then there may be somebody
either using my identity or something because to my knowledge I have never been nasty or ugly or abusive or used foul language.
That just isn't my style. I am posting this here because I do not know where else to do it. If I have caused any grief or hurt anyone
I need to know about it and someone needs to contact me through PM so I can apologize. Please. This has got me pretty upset right now so if there is someone out there that knows what I did to get this notice, please get back to me. Thank you.
 
I was afraid that personalization was going to cause problems like this. In hindsight, no matter how cool the feature, it maybe wasn't such a good idea since some may not realize they weren't singled out. It gave me a bit of a fright at first. I was afraid I had accidentally offended someone.
 
I think a bunch of us, myself included, thought we were in deep doodoo when we say the personalized post and were wondering what we had done to offend someone. I was about to send a PM to the mods when I saw the posts that everyone had received it.

Guess we aren't the only ones to occasionally mess up. Not that the mods would ever get a time out.................just kidding.................please don't send me to band camp.

OK..so the feature is like a mail merge feature that personalizes by pulling a name from each
members profile...okey dokey then... I feel better now...just could not imagine what had
happened.
 
Well, it seems to me that it had a certain desired effect even if it was unintended. You did read the message (didn't you?), whereas most "Read This" posts and threads are ignored. I got the message, and wondered "what the...oh yah".
 
In the top right corner of the yellow notice is an X just click it to make it go away.
 
You know, I keep seeing people who think they did something wrong... I didn't. I just thought that it was cool that the message had my name on it, and that made it REAL clear that it was important to read.

I guess I just don't have a guilty concience.

I don't have a guilty conscience either....just couldn't figure out what I did to deserve my on personal scolding. :nuts: A bit in your face but guess it achieved it's intended goal.
 
When I saw the Message in the Box, I remembered some Mod mentioning a set of guidelines being drafted and I figured this was it. No worries here..... ;)
 
Reminds me of a TV prog I saw once. A man sent out lots of anonymous letters saying, "I know all about what you've been up to. $1000 or I tell all".

Did quite well out of it. :party:
