A customer brought in a NY Graphics Society print that she just got from art.com. It seemed as it was digitally printed. Is this a new thing? Are they printing on demand? It was not the standard type of printing that we were used to seeing with NY Graphics. I was disappointed as it looked like a really cheap repro.

I have been seeing some of these, and I think as they deplete stock of popular images they are reprinting them this way. If they are the same process I have seen, be particularly careful with the blacks, and any large areas of solid color.

I thought the images were on the "fuzzy" side and not nearly so nice-looking as litho posters.

I touched the edge of one, and though I would have said my hands were dry, the ink actually lifted off. I was lucky since this area at the edge was to be covered with a mat.

I mount with Kool Tack at 150F, and did not have any trouble drymounting them.

Sorry to say-it look like an amateur printed it. They also ordered the same image as a giclee and the colors were totally different and the image was fuzzy. I've seen some good stuff from art.com but these were sad. Customer is sending it back.

I got 2 in this week that the lady wanted to change the bright white mats on top to something a little better.

one was a giclee they printed on an epson printer according to the documentation, and the artist signed....??? how does art.com get the artist to sign a print?

Be a lot of artists that have to visit a factory to sign things as they come off the printer.
