I did this one for my mother out of some scrap.

It is nothing but a cheap poster that had been laminated and hug up by push pins for several years, yet this has a place of honor in her house.

This poster belonged to an art teacher in the local school system. She taught with this poster and I know for fact this poster went between two schools and three classrooms. Becky was a fantastic person, one of the best teachers I have ever met and a friend to everyone. My mom worked with her and I had her as a teacher back in elementary school.

Becky lost a long battle of cancer, but in doing so inspired everyone around her.
Her visitation was nothing short of amazing. Students that had not seen her in 15+ years showed up that night. The line was wrapped all around the funeral home. It was an inspiring site. This simple quiet art teacher had touched so many kids over the years and they came to pay their final respects.

My mom and Becky were best friends.
A few days after Becky died, my mother took this from the art room before the new teacher cleaned out things. They would often joke about when they retired, they were going to move to Europe and be like the two ladies in the poster.
Now it is in my mom's living room.

Poster was laminated several times over the years, pin holes in multiple places, etc.
All I did was scrub with with soap and water to bring some maker, etc off of it where kids had touched it over the years. The laminate, pin holes, etc are still there and plainly visible.
Con. non glare took amazing care of the laminate and covered up most of the creases, etc.

I did this out of scrap, but thought it turned out well. It is one of my mother's most prized possesions and when something happens to my mother, it will proudly be in my house.

Omega frame, Raw linen fabric mat, Crescent something for the bottom.

Becky married her high school sweetheart and their marriage was one that others should be judged by. A few months after she died, her husband asked me to frame three charcoal drawings she had done back in college. I never in my life was so happy writing AT COST on the invoice. He insisted he pay me for it, or they would have been free.

And that is one of the reasons I frame!

What a wonderful story and a wonderful framing job, Steven. Thanks for sharing. I agree that these type of jobs make framing worthwhile.

What they said. Thank you for sharing this picture and story with us! :)

Great story! That should hang in the lobby of the school, so every student and teacher and administrator can be inspired as they enter.

Very nice work, and a great story. Thank-you for sharing both with us. It's pieces like these that seem to bring out the best designs in all of us. Also,
one of the more profitable ones.
