Due to a terrfic lack of sales, FrameTek has discontinued manufacturing Nori Pre-cooked wheat starch paste packets. We've marketed hard for over 4 years and spent a gazillion dollars keeping it all afloat to no avail.

I appreciate that a lot of Grumblers really liked the product and we got a lot of great press here. Thank you for all the kind words - really makes my day.

But... the sorry fact is that most framers (not Grumblers of course) think that "Acid-Free" used in marketing a product means that it's OK to use around fine art. Drano is acid-free for crying out loud! That term is meaningless for picture framing. The vast majority of framers I've talked to about Nori have told me: 1. We don't get a lot of important art to frame. 2. We just use "Acid-Free" tape.

This included a lot of CPFs too!

You can find a good micro-wave method for making wheat starch paste on the FACTS web site http://www.artfacts.org under the pull-down menu titled "Presentations"

Best fishes for the new year.

Greg...sorry to hear that the packets didn't fly. I appreciated the convenience of them but admit that I mostly use linen tape on anything but original work.

Thanks for the effort put into this product and all the other great products you put out for the industry.

Oh no! Say it isn't so!
Greg how much do you have left?
For that matter how much does LJ have left?

Why don't you contact Lineco and see if they might be interested in the product? Maybe they'll buy the rights to the line from you.

We have a few 12 packs left. Give us a call 1-800-227-9934 8-4:30ish Pacific time weekdays.

Larson bought a whole bunch when they found out we were dropping it.

Linen hing tape is waaaaay to strong to be a weak link (as the hinge should be) and is hardly reversable without a trip to a conservator.

Lineco is looking into it - thanks for the tip.

I just ordered 10 dozen from United. Am I going to be surprsied when my order arrives and they are out of stock?

If you think so, put some aside for me Greg. Please!

Sorry to hear this news. The packets are a definite convenience and well worth the price. I guess not being a manufacturer, it's hard to understand how difficult it is to achieve that "critical mass" of sales that makes a new product a success. This just seemed like one of those things that you would think people would really take to. I guess when the per-unit price is low, you have to sell a real ****load of units to cover the overhead, marketing, etc.
Thanks for trying anyway, anyway. Your products address very real issues, and have helped save a lot of framers a lot of time and grief, and the info on your web site is most helpful.
Best of luck, and thanks again.

I'm very sorry to hear this news, Greg. I love the product and use it on everything that's not a poster or photo!

Thanks for making it and I hope something works out w/ Lineco. It's a shame to lose such a good product.

I've laid in a stash. Kept in a cool place, I suspect it should last a while... Thanks, Greg for all you do for this industry. Would that every manufacturer that benefits from retail framers follow your good example. Bless you.

Sorry to hear the news, Greg. I was going to order some Nori paste packets from M&M distributors in the new year - I guess I may be too late...

Well, I ordered 10 dozen and got 6. I'll probably be calling you next week Greg.

Thanks,
Cliff
