Hello All!
I am a new Picture framer(1 year in), and I recently purchased a Wizard. I am the only one (of many framers) that has one. I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on how I can successfully market my new wonder-unit ?

As well, I have been searching here for a short period of time and I have learned so much already. Thank you for your help!

Welcome to The Grumble J. I have been a framer about four years now but just got my Wizard a year ago. One thing I did was have an article published in our local paper (along with a picture of a customer observing the Wizard with me), "XYZ Frame Shoppe Names Employee of the Month." The article was short and to the point explaining the Wizard's capabilities, 100% attendance, dependability, etc.--qualities of an exceptional employee.

We are having Christmas Open House next week, and I made a Christmas scene from the dropouts of cutart . . . tree, ornaments, snowflakes, toys. Yes, it used quite a few corners, but it was less expensive than a printed ad.
I will also have it "in action" during Open House.

Good luck!

What a great idea...

I love any new marketing tools.
I just got my Wizard last month and I love it. I still need to learn how to do cut out art. I haven't even tryed to tackle that yet. I'm just so thankful to have a dependable cutting system that does multi openings and special cuts and only take 2 minutes!!

I also purchase the Integraded Framer and did a press release to let people know we have it. I haven't heard anything from the paper except to say they receive my release. I really hope they come through.

I did a postcard mailer this week and hopefully will get some attention from that!

We did a window of various name mats using sports teams, cities, kids names, LOVE etc. Sold custom name mats at a good price, used up lots and lots of mat scraps that we had cut to 8 X 18. You probably won't be able to do this until you accumulate bunches of corners (I guess it depends on what program you're on) but we pay our Wizard rental for that month plus some each time we do it.

The Wiz!

I have a front window facing main street and I am trying to create some pieces that really show what the "wiz" can do. Its very difficult to decide what marketing will work. I was wondering if anyone charges for the specialty mats? Or have you gone to the competitors to see if you can do their framing for them?

Any other suggestions or comments would be greatfully received.

Wizard used to (and they probably still do if you ask) have an article written by Jay Goltz on suggestions for marketing and pricing specialty mats. It was available only for Wizard customers. Very useful!
