I wonder if anyone has seen and/or checked out the upcoming Avonto Direct Connect from nuTech (maker of EZFramer)?
It's a different approach than a POS. Basically it's a PO generation solution that has a vendor database like a POS. But it doesn't do any pricing and it's not set up to do an order for your customer. It's just to generate your order from your various vendors, and then you can either send them electronically or print them out and fax them.
There is no charge for the software, and the maintenance fee is just $3.99/month to use it including data updates and tech support. It seems like an interesting idea, especially after hearing that some people don't want their POS to do their ordering for them. It also will allow people who don't want to use a POS a simple way to place accurate orders.
What do you think from a retailer standpoint?
