SoftTouch Solutions, Petrolia, Ontario, Canada, has released FrameReady 8.0.
Among the 20 new advancements is “Scenarios,” allowing framers to create up to five designs on one work order. The side-by-side comparison of components and prices can simplify the decision-making process. The new Rewards point system lets framers determine the dollar-to-point ratio and point redemption value. Individual customers can be given bonus points or have special rates.
The new Quick Find searches all fields in a file with just a single entry.
The new Gift Card file uses professionally designed, numbered, and barcoded gift cards to enhance sales. A transaction log is created for each card. Credit can be added to a card at any time.
FrameReady 8 can be configured for metric measurements & pricing.
Visit www.frameready.com and view the FrameReady 8 video or call 888-281-3303.

I have been thinking of upgrading to it.

My shorts are still in a bunch though. When I first purchased FrameReady (12 years ago) one of the selling points was that all software upgrades were to be included. After a few years they changed the policy, but didn't grandfather in their old customers. The only thing I was supposed to have paid for were pricing updates.

I just contacted SS for the upgrade. Nice new features. Cant wait. Thanks for the heads-up Kirste.

Darn, I have had plans to sell my 6.0 version and haven't made the effort. It will not be as appealing without all the bells and whistles.......

I purchased during the Vegas show special and they sent the new version. After I get my new store build out completed I'm gonna install it and get all my inventory into it. Can't wait!

I installed the upgrade about 2 weeks ago. I have had no problems.

My favorite new feature is the "scenario" feature to quote several frames and keep all my previous quotes until the customer makes a decision.

How much is the upgrade?

I was also under the impression that all upgrades were included with the support packages.

It's a free upgrade under the support plan. I'm a first time purchaser. They had 20% off the program so I took advantage of it.

Ah... thanks. We should qualify for the upgrade then. I'll call.

I just got my upgrade instructions. Bert suggested doing it at the end of the day since it could take several hours to transfer all the data. It can run by itself all night.

Right.

Kudos to SoftTouch Solutions. They've done it again.

After several years of using another program before switching to FrameReady in 2000, we have a great appreciation for the quality of the program, which runs trouble-free for us every day. We hear about lock-ups and crashes with some POS programs, but that's never been a concern with FrameReady.

Beyond doubt, the expert staff at SoftTouch Solutions is the company's greatest asset. On the few occasions when I've had questions or issues with the program, the answers have come quickly and accurately. Mind you, the issues are nearly always operator-related and have nothing to do with the quality of the program, which is excellent.

My understanding is that the time required to install the upgrade depends on how much data you have in the program. If you are a new user, don't be surprised if the upgrade goes quickly. Since we have been using FrameReady for more than a decade and have accumulated quite a lot of data, our computer worked most of the night to install the upgrade. Just the same, the unattended installation was well organized and proceeded perfectly.

Take the upgrade, you'll love it.
