I just finished hanging about 30 large, 30 x 40 inches or so in size, engraving that came from Scotland. The framer had used a strange hanging device.

Let this thread be odd-ball hangers we find.

I removed them all.

Once I started to attach a goodwill hanger to the back of a frame, and noticed that in place of a nail, there was a piece of uncooked spaghetti!

They look like wall hangers to me. I don't know what they were doing on the back of a frame. If you ever find a source for those fancy hangers let me know. They look like just the thing for hanging mirrors on hollow walls. Currently I use 100lb hooks with a molly through the center but those thingies look like I could use 2 mollys and they would look better from the side to boot.

Wow. I like the looks of these. I do some pretty big paintings with glass and always worry about how people hang them on their sheet rock. I would love to have some of these. Where did you get them? I usually use two supports and try to find the studs and not rely on sheet rock holders. Two of these spaced 18" apart on studs would hold a lot of weight. If they are not too expensive I would provide two with my paintings when I sell them.

Perhaps some of our Scottish framers could help with this one. How about it, Michael50??

I've found that the Europeans, especially the British, have all kinds of odd "do hickys" and "thingy-bobs" that work their way into our industry.

One distributor in particular, specializes in stocking many of these items. Check with Lion UK, and I'm sure they can give you an answer on this item........

An E-mail directly to their Managing Director Martin Harold will probably yield us an answer........... info@lionpic.co.uk

Frank was right! They are excellent wall hangers for heavy pictures and mirrors. When we use them we hang the D-rings on the back of the frame directly onto the hangers,no wire or cord is used.My supplier gets them from the U.K.

These look like lash cleats for the back of flats used in the theatre. For realy heavy pieces you may want to try cieling plates or fly cleats. All of this hardware and some other interesting stuff can be found in the Mutual Hardware catalog. If memory serves me they are in Long Island City, NY.
