Hello to anyone who can hlep me out. I recently opened up my shop, and I have 11 football jersey's to frame. I have done t-shirts, baby clothes and gloves before but never a football jersey....So, to make a long story short....I began using my attach EZ tool and within an hour of attaching the first jersey--I had broken all 3 of my needles.
Is it something I am doing or are the attach EZ tools not good for this type of jersey?
They worked fine with the t-shirts and other things I have framed.
Any help or insight would be great! Thanks

Treasure, welcome to the Grumble. There is a lot of help to be had here from asking questions and just reading the posts of others as well.

I have been open a year coming up in the next few weeks.

Concerning your question. I use my attach EZ for jerseys and as the instructions tell you it is very important to use a twisting (screwing) motion when inserting the needle into heaver items. Just pushing will bend and break the needle.

Congratulations on an order for 11 jerseys that should be nice project.

I just got rid of mine today, everytime I used it I broke needles! Read a hint a while back that suggested using your scratch awl to make starter holes to make using the EZ EZier.

Me, personally, I'm back to lacing, sewing, and siliconing my needleworks. (OK Kidding on the silicone)

You DEFINITELY need to make a starter hole for the needle using either an awl or a large darning needle.

I made an awl by drilling a small hole in the end of a piece of 1 inch dowel and pushing a large needle into the hole backwards. This leaves the long point of the needle exposed which is pushed through the jersey and the backing, then the needle of the Attach EZ (or whatever brand you have) goes through really easy with no broken needles.

After snapping off all my needles shortly after buying the Attach EZ, I went to E Bay( mainly because I am cheap) looking for more needles. I bought a set of 16 Avery Dennison(which is what these guns are) all steel needles very reasonably. More importantly, these needles seemed a bit longer, as well as being all steel, and not plastic at the base. I,also, do make an effort to use a twisting motion when using the gun. Since my original disappointment, I have probably done 20 to 25 jersies with pretty good success.
Check out these needles http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7528725548&category=27172&ssPageName=WDVW&rd=1

With the Attach EZ I find you MUST keep the gun square and twist back & forth, this way I have bent only one needle in I don't know many jumpers. The problem seems to be to the fabric in so slippery & like steel to pierce, any lose of concentration & bent needle - down here they are about $15ea - no way am I going back to silicone ;) ;)

Just another thought on the silicone on textiles joke. On the Aussie grumble someone posted about a football jumper that was glued down with PVA for real  would have given the full quote but could not find it a lot of stuff vanishes off the grumble down here or gets edited probably why more post here than at home
