I am framing several pieces measuring approx. 53 x 42 using Anti-Reflective Glasing. Museum only goes to 40x60 - which leaves AR Plexi (AR/Abrasion Resistant/78%UV. It comes in 48x96x 5 sheets - but there's a 5 week wait because it's special order.

Does anyone out there have this in stock who would be willing to cut it down and ship to me in central Jersey??

thank you
Amy

so funny you should mention - aswespeak, i'm trying in vain to get their phone number right now. i am not at work - do you have their phone number???

Have you tried Small Copr out of Mass? You are in Jersey...Do you not have access to several different vendors in Jersey that would have this material? Nurre, LJ, Don Mar, Decor,? I am not sure if they all deliver, but I seem to recall many vendors in Jersey

Ironically I just put a quote together for a 4' x 6' job where I need a 1/4" museum grade plexi. The only one who could get it for me was my local glass shop, special order of course. keep searching there's always a source somewhere.

let's see......
AR = Anti-Reflective
and
AR = Abrasion Resistant

which AR do you really want?

makes me wonder why 'they' didn't name it "Scratch Resistant" and do away with the name mixup problem. I ordered "Abrasion Resistant" from one of my suppliers last year and received "Anti-Reflective"---he was perplexed when I informed him the order arrived incorrect--it was "A/R", yes??? NOT! (& of course they don't carry the "S/R" kind--he didnt even know it exitsted!)

so true - are people actually paid to create confusion and ambiguity? heck yes!

So here's the bottome line of what I need:

Anti-Reflective(same as museum) - NOT non-glare
Size - approx. 53.5 x 41.75

True Vue Optium (Anti-refl) max is 41x71. may be able to take it down to 41.
LJ charge $555 per sheet (51197 - they won't custon cut this however). Then LJ told me they have 51189 with A.Refl./Abr. Rest./78% UV in 48X96 with a 5 week wait - special order. But I don't even see that product number in their book. I think they, too, confused AR and AR.....and i'm waiting for a call-back from DonMar.

...so much for my day off

Amy:

You need to email yourself your suppliers' phone list, account numbers, etc.

This way, whether you're home, on a seminar or .....on vacation.......:p you can still reach them.

I email this actually to myself on multiple email accounts, just in case one service is down. But hey, that's me, Paranoid Paul!

PS: You may also want to try AIN Plastics (division of AMCI, I believe) in Westchester NY: 877 246 7700

Paul, i actually do carry my phone list with me but for some reason, this copy is from my pre-DonMar days which isn't too long ago by the way.

Oh, the devil is in the details.....

They are actually right near Don Mars place down there. I went there when I needed 1/4' plastic and Don Mar doesn't carry it. I was going down there every month so it wasn't a problem for me.

Their catalog lists OP-1, OP2, OP3, OP4, AR... even bullet resistant stuff.:thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Don't confuse AR and AR - Acrylite called their Abrasion Resistant acrylic AR before Tru-Vue started marketing AR Anti-Reflective glazing. The only Anti-Reflective acrylic made by Acrylite and marketed by Tru-Vue is Optium. True-Vue does not market the Abrasion Resistant product.

The optically coated, anti-reflection acrylic you want is Optium Acrylic, made by Tru-Vue and available in 41"x71" size from any Tru-Vue distributor.

If you want larger than 41"x71" size, there is a 72" x 120" x 6 mm oversize sheet available from one of seven or eight special distributors. I believe Don Mar is one of them, as is Gemini Moulding/Showcase Acrylics, Preservation Glazings, and Matt Dalbke's company (can't recall its name at the moment).

If you call Tru-Vue's HelpLine, they will give you contact information for all of their Museum Optium Acrylic distributors.
