New computer system, processor differences?

I am in the infant stages of searching for a new computer and/or laptop - since it has been 6 years since I bought a new one.

What is the difference between the different processors, and which one is recommended for running the POS Lifesaver system along with some other support programs I run.

Also:

I do not need gaming/video cards (at least I don't think I do!!)

what are the best minimum levels for all the memory, ram, etc.

And whether or not to use wireless.

Other components to consider?

Which brands might be the more desirable/less problematic?

Most POS systems have relative low memory requirements. The real issue will be... are the "some other programs" memory heavy users, such as graphic programs such as Photoshop, etc.

What other programs are you planing on using - either separately or at the same time as the POS. Remember each program will use(reserve) some of the memory while the other program is running.
