I have a small job to do... BUT...

I need to mount two, small, drinking glasses. They look like wine glasses, but they are only about 2 1/2" tall. I plan to out them in a shadow box, and build a shelf for them to sit on, but the customer would like to be able to remove them from time to time. I was thinking of making a clip, or some kind of holder to cradle the glasses above the stem. The problem is that the glass is clear, and had a little bit of gold design work on it, and I don't want to distract the viewer from the delicate design.

The backing will probably be a dark green suede, and the frame will be a gold shadow box. (probably a carved profile.)

Any ideas on how to mount them so that they won't slide around on their shelf, and yet still be removably, would be appreciated.

You could use two small "pegs" of clear acrylic rod to hold each glass by its stem. Have the rods sticking out of the mount board, parallel to each other, slightly farther apart than the stem's diameter.

Yes the "Wine" glasses have stems. (I would call them a shot glass for wine, but that might make it harder to understand what they look like. ;) )

I was thinking about using pegs, but I am worried that when the person takes them off the wall to remove them from the frame, they might shift forward and possibly break. (You know that no matter how carful you tell people to be, they never listen.)
