I bought s new blade for my hand-held miter trimmer (which sez "Lowe" on it - made in Germany).

I have managed to unbolt the bolt in the middle that holds the two pieces together, and remove the collet (?) but the blade seems stuck fast.

Anyone done this before? Do I have to tap out the rectangular piece of metal which "stops" the blade in the handle? Or should I just try tapping the blade out down the line of the handle?

Anyone understand what the heck I'm talking about?

EEEEKKK!!!

It should just ride out on the key. Tap smartly but be gentle. Probably just rust. You need to take the rake out on the town more often. :D

My Goodness, Baer - is there anything you don't know???

SUCCESS!!! And not rust - just waxy gunk that they probably had to use to get it in there in the first place - just like I had to tonight!!!

Think my sharpener guy can re-sharpen the old blade??? It would be nice to have a spare - although now that easel back channel doesn't have metal in it anymore the blade should last a LOT longer!!!

Gonna use it on all those durned filets I keep insisting on selling since I "met" y'all!!!

Mar,

What does your "sharpener guy" sharpen for you?? If he has only done your lawn mower blades in the past I would find a better source for sharpening that blade. Forrest Blades is close to your area and I send all of my chop saw blades to them. You can do a Google search to locate them and get a phone #.

That blade probably has to be hollow ground and the "sharpener guy" may know what that is or he may look for a ravine to stretch his extension cord into so he can run his electric body grinder over your delicate blade!!

Edit:

Mar, here is some information I found on their online site.

Hope this helps you.

I hope there is no afiliation between the German Lowe trimmer and the American Lion one, because the last one is a true piece of sh**. This is such a perfect failure that its Taiwanese knock off seams to be the original and Lion a third world copy of miserable quality, I am sorry to say.
I keep my Lion available to everyone willing to challange my words, including its manufacturer or distributor.

Well, Cornel, I'm afraid that your flaming was for naught as was my information that I offered. After reading Mar's post closer, I found that she was probably referring to one of those hand held fillet choppers.

But maybe somebody will still take your bait and have a round with you.

FYI - on the side of my HAND-HELD trimmer there is both the words "Original LOWE" AND a logo with a Rampant Lion over a rising sun/daisy/sawblade thingy inside a circle. On the other size (would that be "verso"?) it sez "Made in Germany." I bought it from United maybe 15 years ago...

I am not gonna spend all day tracking down their information, but perhaps "Lion" and "Lowe" were once connected and are now separated or maybe it's an "Aspirin/ASA" kind of trade name thing.

Also - my blade sharpener guy - that's all they do - all kind of blades from chisels to planes, to saw blades and yes, lawnmower blades - they are full service sharpener guys!!!
