We have a Michigan Wolverines felt helmet (flat) made by Rico Industries. It feels like felt but does not appear to have much if any nap. flat as a pancake. The back feels almost slick to the touch - as if it has some sort of sizing. It has been signed by the team with silver markers

as it is an odd shape and the customer wants it cheap, cheap - we are simply (ha ha) going to attach it to float on the mat board. I wish I could be here 24/7 I go to lunch and the young girl who helps out gets all the unique items and assures the customer that I walk on water

So... what type of adhesives... fabric glue? wheat starch? I am concerned that the adhesive will seep through the felt. but maybe not - I wish I had a sample to play with.... we are not concerned about long term value on the open market but it is important to the customer.:help:

suggestions?

Attach-Ez

Why don't you try the Fletcher Attach-Ez guns. They work wonderfully with this kind of stuff. No glues and no sewing. If you haven't seen them, they shoot little "hang" tabs that you see on clothing. Only these are small. I got my two guns about 2 years ago. I think since then then have come out with a newer version as well as black tabs to do the holding. This way, if the hat goes up in value, or even if they want to reframe it in 10 years, it is easy to remove.

Jeanne,

I just did a Masonic shadowbox with a thick felt fez and some other stuff and I sewed the fez down to the backing mat. It went fast and will hold for the duration if you are careful to attach enough places to hold it in place and give some support.

Good luck with your project.

Thanks to all

Duh - Why didn't I think of sewing or the attach-ez - My mind has been on sending my first to Michigan Tech - now to get back to framing.

Thanks to all
