I mentioned in an earlier thread that I liked the new Facebook interface and that I upgraded my Facebook business page. Now I have a problem that I need a solution for. Sorry to repeat this request:

Updating to the new version wiped out our Facebook Page feed on our own home page and we have just spend two hours trying to figure out how to get it back. None of the advice on FB helps. Grrr...

I think this is a FB bug. Suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks....

Kirstie,

I think that I will hold out on the upgrade for the moment - thanks.

Actually, I'm taking a Facebook for Business seminar tomorrow morning, and although basic, I will present the question on your behalf to see if a solution is known.

John

I think facebook has been acting squirrelly the last couple of days. (I know, what else is new?) I posted something yesterday that just disappeared when I checked it later.

John, I think they said that all business pages would be switched to the new format by maybe March 10 or March 17 (or some day in March).

I switched early to just get it over with.

BTW, Rick - I just went to your personal page and it said "there are no more posts to show."

Huh?

Also - I cannot find anyone's business page anymore, including my own, by clicking on the link in the employed by segment at the beginning of each new personal profile.

All I get is one of those "Community pages" which has BUPKISS on it.

I find that MOST annoying.

Ask about that, John, eh?

Go to your home page feed and double check to see what URL you have in it. Make sure it reads your current Facebook URL. Prior to the update Facebook did not allow custom 'username' (URL) on pages. A default was set by them and I'm thinking this is what you have in your home feed. Now they allow any pages that has over 25 fans to set a custom 'username' (just like your personal account). Your current URL is custom and not a default.

This is the only thing I could think of that might be causing your problems.

Good Luck and hopefully it helps!

This is not a linking problem, but what I believe is a bug in the FB feed on my own home page. We originally got the html code from FB in order to embed the feed on our web site. Now the feed just shows my personal picture from my personal page and one old post. But above that is the link to our business FB page. If you look at my home page and scroll down you can see what is going on. John, thanks for offering to ask the question. There now seems to be nowhere to find the code to embed a feed. Thanks for all your thoughts on this.

Is this what you are asking about....?

Kirstie,

Are you making reference to Static FBML?

Go to the linked page above or search for Static FBML and then click on the Discussions tab > Click on End of FBML

Browser issue?

Just hazarding a guess, but have you tried using a different browser? Example, if you normally use Google Chrome, how about trying Firefox? Another thing that might work is using a different computer, which would have different software(the more up to date the better)? Have you updated your software with the changes(there are different schools of thoughts on updates, but my current computer guru has my computer set to accept automatic updates). Hope this helps. I had problems on another website and changing my browser did the trick. The newer computer issue, maybe it's software glitch(meaning, the software you have doesn't like the FB software-for lack of a better word). Of course, you could post to the board on FB and they could investigate if it's their issue.

I was having a problem with it double posting my comments over the weekend. I would type something, post it, and it would show up twice. First time it happened, I deleted one of them but later they were both gone (maybe just as well on that one). The second time, the extra post disappeared with in a few minutes with out me doing anything and the original remained. Just weird.

Haven't upgraded the business page. Now I think I will hold off.

It looks like the issue has been resolved...

I went to your home page and also your FB business page...

it looks like your home page is receiving the feed (it's the same as in your FB page).

The last post is stamped at 'Saturday at 12:05pm' in reference to flower/valentines/framing.

Here is a pic from your home page feed:

I'm using Firefox as my browser.

Also if anyone else can do the same and checkout your home and FB to verify it is working or not.

If someone else can verify that it is working then it could be an issue with your browser, if that is the case then you might try clearing your 'cache'.

It's definitely a hiccup with FB right now.

I checked my site and my FB feed is blank...

so I checked your site once more and the FB feed is blank also...

I get a white blank area where the feed should be in Firefox & Chrome, but in Opera I get a partial feed.

Exactly. Mine looks like this now, not like the first correct screen shot you posted.

John, not sure what to make of that End of FBML thread. I have to admit that I could not undestand most of it.

You get the idea from the photo. It is a partial feed from the wrong acount. If anyone figures out how to fix this please let me know. For now I think we will have to take down the feed if it doesn't resolve in a few days. Now I can't find anywhere on the FB site to create a feed for one's web page. I thought it used to be there. Oh well.

Any resolution on this issue?

I gave up a long time ago on having a FB feed on my website and on my blog because for the blog unless I posted something every day it would say "No new posts" and on the website all I would see is a big block of code.

But now I am getting new folks in who have done a search and found my website so i thought it would be nice if there was a FB feed on the first page.

Or maybe I should leave well enough alone and continue to ignore my website - have not touched it in over 2 years!

No Mar, I have given up. I need to add an item to my list: Remove FB feed.

Just watched The Social Network.

Surely something like this can be fixed.

I have no hope of succeeding with Facebook to any degree, let alone achieving your level of proficiency with it.

It's fun to wade into new technologies, but I must admit I am thoroughly confused by the whole Facebook/Twitter/Social Media thing. Every time I log onto FB or Twitter, I am overwhelmed and quickly end up moving on to less frustrating activities. I find little incentive to endure that learning curve.

Kirstie - I have a sneaking suspicion that someday the embedded FB feed feature will once again become available - only this time with a price tag attached.
