to anyone-----

where do I find all those http: addresses that I have entered over the years???????? seems to me that while doing a 'cleanout job' of old crud I should be getting rid of those also(realizing that it's probably a relatively small amount of storage-even if the list seems VERY long-every little bit help!)

If you are talking about websites you have visited go to Tools and then Internet Options and then click on how long you want stuff to stay in your History. I have mine set on 24 hours.

If you are talking about Favorites or Bookmarks - then someone else will have to answer - I used to keep mine in folders now they just keep piling up (or should I say down) and I am too lazy to "organize" them - so far the alphabet has started over on that list a number of times! ;)

In either case I don't imagine that either list would take up that much storage space.

If you are that desperate for space maybe an external hard drive would take away some of the burden?

not talking about favorites---that is very easy to control. I'm talking about webs I've tried to get to----I have one that I just could NOT spell correctly----I have like 10-12 "almost' spelled the same and they all show up still. OR if you enter "A" all those starting with "A" show up etc etc.

Go to "internet options"..Hit delete....(Under browsing history,) you should get a list, titled"delete browsing history" that has items that can be deleted(history, cookies, temporary files).Hit delete temporary internet files. This should clean out those addys! Ever actually look at the piles of stuff that end up in the temp file? WOW! what a load o`stuff..........I clean mine out daily, but I`m anal. L.(course if this ain`t correct...I wanna know too.seems to work, and the cable co said this was it.....):D

Disk Clean Up will free up a bunch of space being used by carp like this.

In XP it is in Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Clean Up.

Vista just type clean up and it will appear.

Click all of the check boxes. It will show you how much space is being consumed by each item.

If you're using FireFox, just hit the "Delete" key while it's highlighted...

Let me know expand on what David said:

In FireFox' address / URL window, there is a down arrow at the end. Press this and highlight and delete all the addresses you don't want.

Actually, you don't need to click the down arrow at the end of the address bar (I didn't even know it was there...). Just start typing and when you see an address in the drop-down that you don't like, if it's not already highlighted, use your up/down cursor keys to select/highlight it and then press delete.
