Just realized I sold a rush mat of Crescent 1627 with a piece left 3/4" shy of what I need (already ordered the wide gold chop with the routed out corner holder thingies). (No longer have anyplace to buy a lousy sheet of Crescent) :(

Just noticed in my printed Bainbridge chart a color called 8030 Pink Carnation.

Anyone have any hand's on (or eye's on) knowledge if these are the same facing papers?

If not, I suppose I could make a fillet to plump out the rabbet size....

So, without having to go through my ramblings here:

Is Crescent 1627 the same as Bainbridge 8030?

B8030 is not an exact match the finish is more shiny and slightly off in color, there is a cresent select that matches exactly C5648 if you have any of that.

Thanks. I just found my Pink Carnation corner - it is way different from what my customer has in her head (and on her lips and nails).

Looks like a fillet to the rescue!

Oh, the drama!

Couldn't you somehow get the chops re-cut just a tad smaller.

Maybe call on a framer friend across town or explain to the distributor your problem.

I dislike adding fillets to frame rabbits. Expensive, puttsy work and I always feel like it's a weak link in any project. I do it but reluctantly.

I think a fillet can look great, but they should only be used when they're
just right. We charge enough that it covers the time and expense.

I have the perfect fillet and this customer will never notice - she was worried anyways about the 1 1/4" of mat that was going to be showing (don't ask!) so this means about an inch will show and she will be thrilled!

Instead of the fillet (which is more expensive and more work for you), could you cut a second mat instead to fill up the space? Not sure about the design and color and such, but a mat in the color of the frame (cut reversed bevels) might work as well. Easier, quicker and cheaper....

Has to be a fillet, Ylva. Frame is bright glossy shiny gold, fillet the same. I was at the shop (on my day off) finishing up an order to deliver this afternoon and the UPS driver saw my lights on and delivered the frame.

So all is good - I have extra pieces of fillet - frame is small.

:)

Turns out I had only one short stick of fillet - I never cut a fillet so carefully - ended up with 2" left over. Whew!

Customer was absolutely thrilled with the job - I did not mention the addition of the fillet and she did not notice the slight difference the addition made to the frame profile.

It did bug me that the frame finish was was darker and duller than my sample; but she was so thrilled with the thing she did not notice that either.

Whew!

On to the next conundrum (seems like it wouldn't be a normal week without at least one...)
