Hi all,

I'm framing a newspaper article for a client and she wants the mat to be Navy blue and gold. I have nothing to refer to color-wise so I'm turning to the Grumble for advice! Surely some of you have gone down this road before, yes? My only request is no fabrics -- I didn't quote her for fabrics.

Thanks!

Connie

Jeez Maria, I hope you weren't confusing those old stupid "Salt & Peppers" we wore in the late 70s....... :vomit:
But you are right about it being a deep hue with great saturation, somewhere between Cadet and Midnight.... But, in Maria's defense, the new Crackerjacks are or seem to be a bit darker than the old ones in the 60s. . . or is it the memories that have faded.....? :D

I could have been a better help if you had quoted fabric.

Thanks for those wonderful suggestions, Maria. Since it's a newspaper article, my client would like to go pretty simple as opposed to elegant -- and I definitely didn't quote out the labor on linework and such. I basically just need mat color suggestions (Bainbridge, Crescent or Artique) that truly represent Navy blue & gold. She did mention too that she believes the gold is a dark yellow as opposed to a metallic gold -- is this accurate?

I know there are a few Grumblers out there that work on military bases -- where are you guys?? I was counting on you to make me look like I knew what I was doing! :)

P.S. Baer -- thanks for your note a few posts back about the stuff I sent up with Cynthia. Didn't have too many spring clips on hand but I hope it got you guys through!

Just enough. And they showed up just at the right time.

The yellow is as close to being gold with out being metallic. More of a French Mustard than Gouldons.

This is from a Navy website. Don't know if the Pantone #'s will help. Maybe if you contacted your matboard suppliers they could help. We have a large base here and they haven't been all that picky about a perfect match.
