Here is my first "real" customer piece. The entire image was done in path trace except the font. That was just added after. What do you think?

When I took the picture the camera wasn't straight, this was taken from my ceiling mounted camera. Just so you are aware.

Justin, your fonts, are those printed or cut as V-grooves?

Good to gain experience with path trace. Although in this case I don't think you really needed it. You can take your rectangular openind and just add the circle opening and they merge them togeather and they become one. From there you just copy and paste.

the logos are cut as v-grooves, the fonts above where cut as v-grooves as well. As for the CD pieces...Yeah, i realize now that your way is easier than mine. Oh well, experience helps!

Bee's knees and peachy keen, Justin.

You guys just have to keep showing me the cool designs you can do with your CMC ..don't cha?

One of these days I'll break down and buy one...hopefully before I break down some other way!

Let the Wizards do it

Great Job Justin!

Does anyone know an easier way to do logos than pathtrace? I have grown fond of the program, however, it can be very time consuming. If only you could open in Corel Draw and save/import or...

Send the logo to Wizard, pay them $50 and voila, a pathtraced, hassle-free logo. Seriously, for anything that takes more than about 30 minutes of shop time to path trace, you can't beat Wizard's pricing. I believe rush jobs are $75.

Can the Wizard folks out there please confirm or correct pricing?

Correct!

Yes, at the moment, the price for custom mats is $50 per design (around 1-2 weeks), and $75 for rush (1-2 days, or same day if possible).

Another option for bringing in designs to PathTrace (i.e., from other programs)... If you can save/export as a DXF in your other program, you should be able to open that DXF in PathTrace. Note, however, that there are many different types of DXFs in the industry, and it hasn't really been properly standardized. So, try a few diff settings in your original program to see which works for you.

Hi Justin excellent piece

Had you thought about flipping the right column of openings so that the cd's faced each other and the presentation of them all would be symmetric? That would elimate the negative space distraction caused by the right column of cd circle openings. The (my) eye craves balance in layouts like this.

Whadyathink?

you know Bruce,

Thats what I wanted to do as well. Except the best part is. This project has been going through "red tape" for about 4-5months. Everything was picked apart. This is a flagship piece. This is kind of how they want it. Now down the road if the want it changed because they don't actually like it...We will definately do that. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Thanks though! I see that all framers think alike!
