From what I can tell, Multi-quote doesn't work except for post #1. I believe this has been seen New Server. I am running Firefox 10.0.1 on Windows 7x64.

It seems to work okay for me running Firefox 3.something under Mac OS 10.4.6.

Sorry, but I don’t know nuttin’ ‘bout Windows.

Still not working on Firefox 11.0.

Also tested on:
IE 9.08112.16421 and
Chrome 18.0.1025.142

It doesn't do anything at all.

On iOS 5.1 with Safari it works on the #1 Post, but on any subsequent posts it acts like the "Reply with Quote" function.

Here is a picture of what it's supposed to look like when you click "Multi-Quote". It only works on Post 1 within the thread, as far as I can tell.

David,

When I use mulitple quotes in a post, I simply go through the motions of a completely new Reply with Quote and then copy/paste this into my post while in the edit mode. Is there actually a separte reply caled multi-quote?... ahh, I see the icon now.

My guess is that it is an optional funcition that is perhaps turned off by the moderators or owner?

Yes. Do you see the check mark in my screen shot above? That's what the "+ button looks like after you click on it in Post one. You used to be able to check off as many posts as you wanted, then the last post you wanted to quote you would click the "Reply with Quote button. In this post I used the "+ button on my first post and then the "Reply with Quote on yours. However, the "+ only works on Post #1.

I guess my reply took long enough for you to edit...

If it's turned off, I would think it wouldn't show up. And it does work on Post #1.

David I notice you are using the Newspaper skin. I am too and the multi quote has not been working for a long time with that skin. I think last time I switched to the default skin it worked, but since I prefer the newspaper look I have just not been using the multiquote feature.

Can we get more skin options?

David I notice you are using the Newspaper skin.

It used to be at the bottom of the main forum page, didn't it? I forgot there even was such a setting and can't find it now (looked for obvious places in Settings and My Profile)...

Yeah, it used to be there, I just looked all through the settings too. I don't know where the choices went

But I do know that I haven't been able to multi-quote since before the server change if that helps....

Was that a month ago Pat?

I have been using the paper option for a few years now and still have it. Haven't thought to change it until David asked about the multi-quote feature. So I am wondering if the support for the optional skins is gone. Maybe the multi-quote works in the default skin, is there any way to manually change skins? ie an ini file somewhere?

Larry there were like three options. the default (is that an option?) paper and tulip which was like pink. Paper is easier on the eyes IMO so I stuck with it.

Larry, here' a link to another vB4 forum. On the bottom you can see style options they have available. There are tons more, but I think you have to pay for them. Which makes me wonder, is Bill, are we paying for the styles that some of us are still using? I don't want to be adding to the cost of the forum if Bill hadn't meant for us to use these optional features.

I was able to multi-quote a few hours ago, when I first read this thread. Now I can't. Someone's messing with us. :p

I thin it works well.

David's right, it only works on the first post in a thread, on my computer. From the other forum I am assuming I am using the default style sheet. On subsequent posts it doesn't even go to the reply page, just is a do nothing click :)

Works as it should for me.

John, that is what we are seeing. It works with the first post, post #1, but not others. So you multi linked #1 and one of mine. Could you try linking #4, #6 and #12? Or any other three ;). When I do it I get nothing except for the last one I click.

Here's four ..... I see four anyway

And this is what I get when I click on #1, #4, #6 and #12.

There I clicked 4, 6 and 12. All that shows is 12. (Sorry Larry, picked random numbers :))

I knew Bob was off in Lala Land, there's the proof, he still has the paper skin. Bill said they were gone when he upgraded the Vbulletin software. Right now I can get the multi-post check mark only in post #1. (IE9, Win7.)

Its an odd combination of circumstances working for some people and not others.

It might somehow be related to plug ins or antivirus software blocking it, too.

Personally, I never tried the feature.

Mike

You guys have to learn tab-browsing.....

Assuming you're talking about me and the others that can't get multi-quote to work, it isn't that I can't or don't know how to multi-quote manually. It's why should I when there is apparently a one-click button to do so? I could get to California by walking, but why would I when I can get a round trip ticket for under $500?!!

Oh, and I do know how to "tab-browse"; I rarely have less than 10 tabs open in two or three windows.

Than you also should know that manually with tab-browsing goes much faster as using the forum-buttons....:icon11:

Nope, I guess I'm just too stoopid and think that clicking three buttons to quote three people is so much easier than opening two additional tabs, clicking three buttons and then copying from each tab and then pasting the result into another one.

When I had dial up using multiple tabs felt faster, but not with DSL.

Why should we have to jury rig solutions when the button is there that says "multi quote"?

And you are really starting to push them....

I can cut moulding with a hand saw, but I use a chopper. I can join frames in a corner vise, but I use a v nailer. I can cut and paste, but when a tool is available that makes it more efficient I use that tool.

I could also just use html code and manually quote other people's quotes, but I don't.

I do use code for smilies as I find that quicker, I don't use the button for that :) see I used : ). Quicker more efficient. Try it...

well...............Yes....... er and NO............ I'm confused now.....

Does dial up still exist?
That's the trouble with young people. They like to have a button for everything.....

How long until you go to the retirement home again? :popc:

Multi quote worked for me David!!!! I was just trying it out to see!

Nicole, my son's best freind's father used to work for a Texas firm that was still doing dial up. He got laid off last fall. He also traveled to Texas every other week while he had that job, talk about a commute!

Worked fine for me today using Chrome on W7

Huh, what do you know. On a lark I just tried it again. Today it worked for me... Thanks Bill for whatever you did...:)
