I am able to use Spreadsheets to a certain degree but this one has me stumped, I just don't really know where to start as I am very new to Excell (v.2002)...

I want to update the csv file from our website, this file must be imported and exported as an entire text block. From our POS I can export only the fields (SKU and Price) that I want, the POS is very easy to maintain and the prices are (very nearly) always correct.

Is there a way that I can set the price data from the POS to overwrite the price data for the same SKU line on the Website data? I do not need the entire formula, just some hints on which commands etc that I should be looking to use.

BTW this is needs to be done two or three times per week.
Thanks for any ideas.

Sorry, but I don’t have POS software, but, if I understand the question correctly, I believe the short answer is “no, you must upload the entire block of data and cannot upload just part of it.”

If your POS software is like most accounting software, you should be able to export files into a “Tab Delimited” format. At that point, Excel should be able to open the file. Then you would have to fiddle to get the columns and rows of data in Excel the way you wanted them. Then you would have to import the rest of the data that you wanted to upload into that just opened spreadsheet. Only when that is accomplished would you be able to upload, and, therefore, overwrite the web file.

… I think.

From the web file use VLOOKUP to refer to the POS file.

In case anyone wanted to know, or see how long it took me to figure it out...
From the web file use VLOOKUP to refer to the POS file.

How do you get Excel to use the LOOKUP function outside of its own spreadsheet i.e. to or from the webfile or POS?

Or do you mean you imported it first to Excel then exported it?
Yes importing was never a problem, just the operator.
