A customer brought in 4 16x20 rolled canvas pictures - souvenir family shots from a cruise. The info included suggests avoiding stretching but doesn't recommend alternatives. I assume dry mounting is the first option and I know Kool Tack makes a board with adhesive especially for canvas. Are there other options? I thought about using film but am concerned about the heat required and whether there's adequate adhesion for canvas.

Films like Fusion and the competitors are perfect for the cruise ship canvas portraits. I've used the United Brand which is 190 for a couple of minutes with no problem. I've also used Laminall at 220 for 30 seconds with no problem. Franks Fabric adhesive would work well and runs at lower temps.

You could use 8 ply rag board and back with a strainer but that could be overkill for these. We use that process for valuable Dr. Seuss limited edition serigraphs on canvas that we sell.
