I did a search on this subject and came up with only one thread from December of 2001, with very little info on "How To" mount a record album. So does anyone have any new ideas, techniques for mounting record albums? I've seen them mounted with the record partially in the jacket with the label exposed. It appeared they were mounted with some adhesive. But I'm sure this would lower any value to the album. Any other ideas will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Denny,

I think it's time for a road trip to Appleton.

Bring the record with you and we'll cut a couple of circle mats: one that fits around the LP and a second one that's a tad smaller to place over the first one and hold the record in place with no adhesives.

It'll probably won't take as long to do it as it took to describe it.

Give me a call.

If you want some nice examples you can find them in a book written by Vivian Kistler available on her web site web page or PPFA Book store I know of two examples of records framed (I framed them). A lot of other good examples for framed memorabilia also. She also illustrates how they were made and materials used. She is going to be at Atlanta this weekend. I believe Vivan Kistler has a sale going on buy three books or tapes and get free shipping.

Thanks Ron,
You're right, it's been awhile since I last stopped in. I've been super busy with other projects but getting caught up and will be down. Actually the album mounting issue is for another framer friend. I passed on your idea.

And thanks Gumby for reminding me to check my bookshelf. I have a copy of Vivian's book, just forgot about it. Pulled it off the shelf and it has some good ideas that I will pass on.

Then there's that nifty little hole in the center. Last one I did included a beat-up old Garrard turntable that I modified in to a shadowbox. If you can wait, there are going to be lots of ideas from Famerica's competition at the Atlanta Expo for record displays.
