A lady brought in a handful of peacock feathers in and said I want these artfully arranged and framed. What would be the method and how would you hide the ugly white bare stems at the bottom?

Two ideas:

depending on how closely the stems were gathered perhaps you could wrap ribbon around them. A few carefully hidden stitches could anchor it.

I learned that when I framed some pheasant feathers for a hunter friend.
He called me to find out why the feather was missing from the quills in the shadowbox frame,
I had fumed them in mothballs for a week but that obviously didn't work.

Leather, silk, wool, fur, feathers, and other
animal based materials are all very attractive to
pests and can best be protected in pest-proof
settings. Packages made of plastic/foil laminates
that are secured to the glass can keep out all
such pests, as they maintain proper conditions
within the package. More information on them can
be found at pictureframingmagazine.com, articles
index, preseravtion supplememnt.
