Timeless Custom Picture Framing
Hi.
I’m mounting leather panels with brands on them in 10”x10”x3/16 in a frame. The panels have a border on them. With the 1/4 allowance, how can I insert them so the border is in line with the frame? I’m thinking some sort or spacer?

The printed pen line is the thing you need to see? And it has to be parallel and equidistant from the sight line (inside edge) of the frame?

That's a tough one since normal frames have a bit of wiggle room to accommodate the natural contraction and expansion of the thing being framed, and leather is certainly no different in that regard.

Are the pieces mounted to a secondary substrate, and can you post a picture of the edge of the panels?

There will be a foamcore backing, holding the leather in place. Friction fit, no adhesive.

I have to do this all the time. I just cut the frame larger than it needs to be and then take 1/16 or less off 'til I have it right. You may need to cut the mount larger than the leather. It all depends on the width of the rabbet lip. You may also need to put a spacer around the leather to keep it in place.

Are you using any glass/Plexi with these?
