I have never been happy with dry mounting (or cold mounting, even) glossy photos on foamcore but have not yet found an alternitave. Have any of you found a mounting board that works better? I was thinking of trying a new product called "ridgidboard". It comes in reg. & A/F and is cheaper than foamcore. Gator board is hard to cut and expensive. I am not sure of some of the plastic stuff.

Ron,

I have had very good luck for several years with a Crescent board called Super Smooth. It is about the thickness of a 4-x board and has the smoothest surface I've found on a paper board. From some vendors, you can get it with perfect Mount adhesive pre-applied so you can use it in a vacuum press or without a press. It's pricey, but I use it on all glossy materials that need to be permanently mounted. Good stuff!

Try the newer speed mount for dry mount presses. Dwell time is 15-30 seconds and it works really well. Read an article that it might work on those "high quality" color copies... and it does, but be very careful you watch the dwell time. Works great on photographs!
