Mounting a glass tumbler-style drinking glass in a shadowbox.

Hi Peeps, just looking for a couple of ideas for mounting this glass. It is about 6.5" high and is tapered, 2" diameter at the base and about 3" at the top lip of the glass.
My idea was to trace the outline in foamcore and cut out a hole in order to recess it, fabric wrap the foamcore and secure it with two 1" mylar strips that wrap around the
glass that are secured in the back through slits in the mat. There are silkscreened designs on the glass that will hide the slits in the mat when looking at the finished product. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Happy framing!

That mounting plan should work.

Or, if you want to avoid recessing the glass, you could install a small glass shelf (cut to fit the base) protruding from the background, and use two 1/8" wide straps to hold the glass on the shelf.
