Yup.....customer wants a cigar butt included in a shadowbox. Any suggestions on preservation and proper mounting. Mylar??????

Thanks,

Howz about a humidor with a glass top?

OR a metal circular box, filled with fine beach sand, and others of its kind. Preferably one that could be emptied on a weekly basis!

There are pests called cigarette beetles, named
for their diet, so some extra packaging in not
a bad idea. The tobacco is likely to bleach in
long term exposure to light and if you make
a "well" in the mat, into which the cigar would just fit, it could serve to keep light off the
cigar, unless the light is coming straight
at it. Keeping the tobacco from drying out will
help to keep it from flaking. It might be possible
to pour dilute acrylic medium, thinned with water
and alcohol into the cigar from the smoker's end,
to consolidate the tobacco. This would have to
be practiced, first. Creating a highly sealed
package would serve to keep bugs out and it would keep relative humidity in.Instructions on doing this can be found at: pictureframingmagazine.com,
articles index, perservation supplements.
