A customer brought in 9 (7"x9") oil paintings on canvas boards...(the little Master's Touch canvas that is already wrapped around & pasted to illustration board). Now she wants them mounted together and framed in one piece. Any suggestion on how I can mount them? She is aware that the seams will show between each panel, which is what she wants. They are of no value, so permanent mounting is acceptable by the customer. I was thinking about Perfect Mount, but I am not sure it will give a secure enough bond. A few of the panels are slightly warped. Or, so you think I would be better off dry mounting? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I did this once, with 20 5x7's. I used fabric glue on the back of the canvas boards and mounted them to a sheet of 25x28 cotton rag board that I had drymounted to foamcore, layed a piece of 32 by 40 1/4 inch tempered glass on them overnight. They were pretty strong the next day. This was 4 years ago, and I have framed many things for the customer since. Have not heard of any problems...

note: These had absolutely no value.

You say these original artworks "are of no value", but I'd bet that if you ruined them, they would be irreplaceable. I suggest caution, and a low-risk mounting method.

Just in case these artworks mysteriously accumulate some personal value over the next frew decades, Lascaux 360 is a contact cement which may be dissolved in the future. Meanwhile, it is easy to use, aggressively tacky, chemically stable, and not likely to weaken over time. For the mounting board, I suggest something sturdy, like 10 mm Coroplast.

You will need to mount each segment under weight in order to overcome the warping, right? Be careful about damaging the painted surfaces with the pressure.
