Morso model F upgrade

Has anyone had or converted a standard Morso model F to the air operation, doing away with the foot pedal. I have had an EH in the past but this option at present is a bit steep in the back pocket department.

Any thoughts good or bad appreciated.

Secondly does anyone grind their own Morso blades as local saw doctors can only flat grind = short cutting life.

I received this email from the Dan- list today.

( Wrong ) grinding of our blades is an issue world wide and it is essential that our blades are hollow ground in 29 degrees. Our manually operated grinding machine is set exactly to this angle.

The EH is Electro-Hydraulic, not air. While I'm sure it could be engineered to run on air I personally would not bother with it, but maybe that's because we cut hardwoods and even the factory EH does not work for our bigger profiles. Additionally, unless your time is worth nothing, I believe it would be cheaper to buy a brand new EH than it would to retrofit an F to automatic operation.

Very interesting about the manual hollow grinder. I will have to look into that.

Wow. Just got a quote from Techmark. Wow. $5980 FOB Little Rock. Wow. Even at roughly $50 a shot (incl freight both ways) it would take over 120 sharpenings to break even if our time is worth nothing.

Must be quite the unit, I wonder if it's the machine they use in house?

Morso grinder

Hi David,
Have been told grinding cup will do between 150 and 200 blade set sharpens before you need to put new grinding wheel on at € 211. So could pay for itself over two years as does Jayden and maybe other makes also.
