I am a amateur framer who has acquired an old morso chopper. I have noticed that when I press a long piece of frame against the right side of the extension table, there is a small but perceptible gap where the knives come down. I have tried adjuisting the fence, but this does not help. The gap gets worse when I press a piece of frame against the fence at a longer distance from the knives. I initially thought it was a warp in the framing material, but as it persists with mutlple pieces of frame, I am assuming that the extension table must be out of alignment with the chopper. I have noticed that the extension table has a rail with the phillips screws. I a don't know whether they can be adjusted left or right. Is it possible that there is a slight malfunction in the extension table or the chopper itself? Has anyone had a similar experience with their chopper?

I initially thought it was a warp in the framing material, but as it persists with mutlple pieces of frame,

Does it do this with a different moulding?

We have a Morso, and on occasion, depending on the profile of the moulding, a slight rocking will occur and a gap will result. For these mouldings, we go to a mitre saw.

We have had no problems with our Morso that can't be explained by the moulding.

If it persists, contact the manufacturer.

The fence on the table extension has over-sized holes in for adjustment. Just note that if you move the fence you will also be re-calibrating the scale as the scale is independent of the fence. Every 1/16" movement of the fence towards you will result in the measurement being understated by 1/16" and vice-versa. You also should be aware that there may not be enough adjustment to get everything "properly" adjusted. We have settled on a compromise between alignment with the main fence and accuracy of the scale.

We actually have purchased a digital conversion kit (from an after-market supplier) but have not yet fitted it due to some limitations of its design.
