Looking for a new underpinner. Would welcome views on these two machines.
I know the cost difference but what about the quality of corner produced?
What does more than double the price get me with the VN2+1?
Also, if anyone has one of these for sale for pick up from Colorado then let me know.
Thanks

Are there any views on these or advice on what to buy??

Help please!!

The manual machine will get the job done but the pneumatic will be a machine you keep for a decade or two. Pneumatic v-nailers make a huge difference in the quality of the finished product. If you are joining basic squared off and flat moulding then the manual will do what you need. If you intend to join a wide variety of shapes and sizes of moulding you might as well buy the one you will end up owning in the end.

Ask yourself if you want to buy a v-nailer once or twice.

Thanks for that.

I think I knew the answer but it was good to get a view. Regards

VN2+1

I have only used the pneumatic machine, but have had a garage framer come into the shop with nails halfway into an oak frame, wanting me to finish the job. He said they had a manual nailer. Seems like a mistake to buy something that can't handle hardwood. Be sure and get a compressor with enough pressure.

I've seen great corners come from the manual. I think that the question you ask is somewhat loaded until we know what level/type/quantity production you will be doing on the machine. That will tell us how best to answer.

If you're looking for a new underpinner, I take that to mean you already have an underpinner. Assuming that, if you want to upgrade, I'd suggest that you go pneumatic. Buying a manual underpinner will likely only be a horizontal move and in a short time you might be looking for yet another underpinner.

The Vn42 is an excellent machine, but even the 2+1 will do the job and be less costly to ship.
