Where do you get your lites???? Unfortunately, I'm outside of M&M's delivering area, and they don't ship UPS for glass/mirror.

What does everyone do? Go to your local glass shop? Home Depot?

And no, I don't want beveled mirror.....just plain flat, preferably 32x40

Don Mar Delivers to you I think.
Omega may have it as well, but I haven't needed any recently to check.

Check pricing at you local glass destributor. Do you want stock lites to cut down? Are you comfortable cutting 1/4" plate mirror (PPM)? Though Double Strength Mirror (DSM) does come in fairly large lites, I would never use it in an application where the slightest distortion would be noticed.
I generally get stock lites from a distributor in town, or have them cut them and sand/polish the edges, depending on the need. Smallest stock lite they have is 48" x 84", but they will cut it once for no additional charge.

LJ only has beveled; in standard sizes.

Will check with Donmar though!

I want it in the 1/8" thickness; never have cut the 1/4".

And yes, I do want to stock some if the price is reasonable. I've had quite a few customers asking for custom mirrors over the past 4-6 months.

Any glass distributor should have 1/8" and 1/4" mirrors and cut to size.

1/4" is much better, in my opinion.

Like Mark said.

I usually just have my local glass guy cut the mirrors. He charges by square inch.

I have cut mirrors before but he's better at it since he does it all the time.

Many of the independant suppliers carry the standard size mirrors. I buy the thinner mirror from G&G with unbeveled edges. They also carry beveled. Check with the independants.

Cutting thinner mirror on a wall cutter is no more difficult than glass. 1/4" mirror only requires a little muscle on the snap but no big deal. I buy the thin stuff up to 36x48 and there is no distortion but that will depend on the supplier.

Thanks Jeff; I have cut 1/8 mirror before; and yes; it's the same as glass and no problems.
Never did 1/4"; does it cut on the wall cutter? (then the snapping wouldn't require as much muscle probably).

But so far; the inquiries have always been for smaller sizes so I think I could stick with the 1/8"

My local glass place just moved and is not so local anymore.....

1/4" cuts the same on the wall cutter. You need to hold the left side very firmly against the the cutter back and give a sharp snap on the right side. It's best to push at the far end of the right side. I don't have my right side support attached so I have to catch it while snapping. For large off cuts I will have somebody hold the left side formly so both hands are free to catch. When it is extremely large on the right I have rubber dipped gloves for safety.
