Does anyone know what Mirrors are in the Users Library? Mine has 32 GIG under Users- Library -Mirrors - Kirstie DMG. What is this? It transferred to my new desk top when I transfered all my files. Can I dump it?

Probably.

If it appears on your desktop, it is probably just a temporary transfer folder.

Move the folder into the trash, but don’t empty it!

Re-start and see if everything works well for a day or so.

If you don’t get any “File Not Found” error messages during that time, it’s pretty safe to empty the trash.

I think she means it tranferred to her desktop computer, not the desktop ON her computer. Still, Bill's advice is sound except I would add to make sure all your applications are working fine as well as the system. Since it is a disk image, double-clicking it should mount it onto your desktop and you can see what files are inside it before deleting it. Also, make sure your trash isn't set to automatically empty when you shutdown your computer.

This is a definition I found:

In the computer world, however, a mirror is a Web or FTP server that has the same files on it as another server. Its purpose is to provide an alternate way to access files when the main server is so swamped with people connecting and downloading files that other people can't get through. Unlike real-life mirrors, when you download a picture off a mirror server, the image isn't backwards.
