I remember reading and article (or something!) about how when framing military memorabilia there are certain "rules" that need be followed, i.e. no text in a frame containing a flag, certain medals need to be positioned in specific locations in relation to other pins and medals, etc...

Does anyone out there in FramingLand recall such an article or have any of this knowledge? I've got a project including items from a WWII British Royal Air Force soldier and I want to be sure I position things properly. I can't find that information for the life of me.

Hi Erin
John has given you a good link. Here is another one that show the ODM (Order of Decorations & Medals)
It goes without saying, that it is extremely important to get the order right. In fact having just completed 32 years in the military here in the U.K. It was considered a Courts Martial if the wearing order was incorrect.

Hope that helps

Erin,

The specifics that John Turner(UK) should help you on this particular project, but if you need assistance with U.S. and Canadian award protecol, please do a search on this forum, and you're bound to find numerous links to charts and posters.

The PPFA bookstore sells a full sized poster which shows all U.S. military medals in signifcant order. PPFA
