I just cut a metal frame down for them. It was sent to them miscut for a xmas order due today.

I did it for free, we see if they can do a favor for me next year  we're buddies now...

The girls at M and I have a good working relationship. They often refer to me when there is something they cant'/won't do for whatever reasons. I regularly send people there for ready mades.

...I'd work out some kind of commission for them. Maybe they'd find more "can't do" jobs than normal. :D

I cut a multi-opening, oversized double mat for M's.

And of course you did charge them $160 for it!

Oops! You just happened to have a coupon.....now the price has been reduced to $400.

I cut a multi-opening, oversized double mat for M's. It is good to have others beholden to you....

The Golden Rule in play. Hopefully they would do the same, but it's more about the giving than the receiving.

I have a good relationship with 2 BB's here. I help them out and they refer people looking for items they don't carry or jobs they can't complete. The framers there care about the customers so they are as helpful as possible. Everybody wins.

I've helped out our local Michael's more than once. My good deeds have come back to me in spades. I get referrals from them at least once or twice a week and what the employees of Michael's don't understand, that once the customer walks through my door they never go back to Michael's for framing. It's a one sided relationship that I really like. :)

My guess is that "Michael's" is not sending work anybody's way, It's the employee and i'll bet that if the store manager found out, somebody is going to be in trouble. I worked at Michael's... Once. The only way work ended up at another frame shop was when the customer was fed-up with the "you know what"?
