A customer brought in a metal hologram. From what I understand, it's several movie frames mounted onto a tin backing (~1/16" thick). The customer wants to have it mounted so he can hang it and not see the mounting. No frame, just something on the back to hold it & hang it.

Also, the piece is not flat. The edges are a bit bend back and ge wants it as flat as possible.

Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Linda

Linda,

I see no-one has jumped in on this. My two cents - Let the customer glue some hangers on the back. You are not a magician for hire to solve problems for those who don't want to pay to do something right. What kind of mount would not be visible from the side? Any board that you have around the shop would probably not be pretty on the edges. Are you sure if the piece were flattened that the hologram wouldn't be damaged? I wouldn't take any risks with this piece for the minuscule compensation that this customer seems willing to pay.

Pat :D

"movie frames mounted on backing" is not a hologram. If it really is a hologram, it needs to be in a frame to protect it from scratches. If it is movie frames mounted on backing, I don't know what it is besides junk. He can glue a couple of cheap hangers on the back. That's the usual way to hang a poster, which is what he seems to want to do.

Thanks for responding. I'll give him the news. Let's say that he decides to frame it, how would you recommend mounting this tin to get it as flat as possible for the frame?

Thanks again!
Linda
