Please tell me something about this mat cutting system I am considering purchase of one. I have heard reports about the company going out of business and no repair parts available is this true? Is the cutter worth having at all?
Thanks

Lawrence,

Run for your life! Do not purchase a Mat Maestro. Please conduct a search on this forum under Mat Maestro and iMat (the more recent name for that machine.)

The manufacturer is bankrupt and left dozens of user with non-working or poorly-working machines or, in many cases, machines which were paid-for and not delivered.

I'm guessing someone is trying to unload a used machine. There certainly shouldn't be any new ones available. Unless you have an engineering background and a fully equipped machine shop and are also capable of reverse-engineering the questionable operating software, you will end up with a very bulky and expensive door-stop. (See the post "101 Uses for a Dead Mat Maestro" on the Warped Moulding forum.)

For the record, I have a Mat Maestro which is working more-or-less up to specs. I believe I'm one of the lucky few. If you'd like more info, please e-mail me.

Look instead to the Wizard rental program or, if you can afford it, the Eclipse or Fletcher machines. If you are determined to own a Mat Maestro, contact me and I'll sell you mine for half of what I paid for it a year ago. (As is, of course.)

I guess I missed my opportunity. You're just too quick on the type Ron!

Here's a deal Silverado. If you want I'll sell you my Mat Maestro at half price also, then you get two for one!

Even though I don't know you, I couldn't do that to another framer. Take Ron's suggestions. I've been looking at an Eclipse.

I talked to Silverado this morning and he has wisely decided to pass on the Mat Maestro. I wish I could say I talked him out of it, but he had reached the decision before I reached him.

Welcome to The Grumble, Lawrence. I promise you'll get more out of this forum than you would have gotten from the Mat Maestro. (And this is FREE, weightless and requires no floor-space! There is some maintainance involved, but framer, our able administrator, takes care of that.)

Don't give up on CMCs. There are some good ones out there with reputable companies backing them up.

Ron

I have to say I dont believe I have heard so much bad so quickly concerning any product..laugh! I really appreciate you gents taking time to steer me on this as I could have made a serious mistake for a small frame shop. By the way Croat...do you hale from Croatia or have family there? <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Croatcat:
