I am trying to see how much interest there is in the framing industry to buy blades in bulk. I am sure 99% of everyone in the framing business buys from their local supplier. I am trying to figure out if there would be a interest in buying blades in bulk... Some shops are not even using more than 1 box of blades a year which doesn't sound good to me b/c it means they aren't doing much framing.
I am involved in the blade industry b/c I sell to local hardware stores, mom & pop shops, direct to shops that use blades in their production processes. I have a large assortment of mat cutter blades that I sell, I am looking to find customers that want to buy mat cutter blades by the case (100 boxes of 100 blade packs of mat cutter blades.) I understand a framing store would never need or want that many blades, but can someone offer insight as to how many blades would a framing business would buy in bulk and feel good about the purchase... 1000 blades = 100 blades per box, 10 boxes total, or would it be safe to say up to 20 boxes of 100 blades of each type you use... I guess I will wait to hear what the community has to say...
What I currently do for local framing shops, I only offer 1000 blades for each type they need, min amount for a order is to have 5000 blades... Whether they mix/match 1000 blades of each kind of blade they use in their shop. It works for the framing shop owner and myself, the volume for me is very very low but I rather see everyone using blades that are Made in the U.S.A.!
I would like to see what kind of feedback will come from this post, I am strongly against the framing supply companies offering chinese imports.. I know these imports are bad for the economy in general, so I would like to figure out a way to offer something to thegrumble.com users to encourage the use of blades made here but I have to sell them in bulk b/c my margins are very low. I normally sell entire pallets of product to my main customers but the local shops I sell to are not really profitable but I do it b/c I rather spend my time and energy to keep products Made in the U.S.A in front of every person that lives and works in this country. Profit or not, for me its the right thing to do.
Well this post became a little bit long b/c I am passionate about keeping our economy thriving, not just surviving.... Please post some feedback if you are willing to invest in stocking up with some blades or general feedback on what I could do to be more helpful to the local framers out there... I will promise you several things, my products are Made in the U.S.A., I will do everything in my power to be competitive and I will be open to any suggestions to make this work for everyone. If you are willing to work with me, I will be willing to work with you!
