Looking for a source for 11x14 and 16x20 mat board for cutting in a Wizard. Too much waste using the Wizard for the outside cuts and the volume is too great to hand cut the blanks. Any ideas? We can buy 500-1000 per size. Papermat ok, acid-free not an issue.

Ask your local big printer would they cut down the full sheets with their guillotine.

Is a Fletcher wallcutter really not an option??? With two sets of stops on there you can really get through a lot of board as you can easily cut three sheets at a time (I plead ignorance if you're not supposed to do this, double ignorance if four at a time is really bad), we have never had to push it to "flat out" yet but have no doubts that you could comfortably run 200 sheets into 16x20 in an hour (800), thats approx 70 sheets down to 14x11 (420 outers) I am not sure how many mats the CNC mattcutter can do per hour but I'd be fairly sure keeping up wouldn't be too much of a challenge.

If you don't want to cut the outside of a mat on your Wizard and are cutting small borders, use Wizard's Rail Dodge feature. In the current version of software, check the Rail Dodge field on the cut screen when using a rail dodger to manually position mat 1.5" up and over (taped, using matboard corners to hold in place, sprayed, etc) to avoid cutting the outside when cutting borders less than 1.5". You can specify any desired amount of rail dodger, the minimum being 1.5".

Check with your matboard distributor I know they can order custom cut sizes from Crescent. Small cut fee. If not try another distributor. If you can't find anyone close contact us we will ship them to you. fob

Slater-Harrison UK Colourmount www.slater-harrisin.co.uk now supply via their picture frame supply houses/dealers as standard product lines mount/mat board in a variety of popular sizes and do cut board to customer’s requirements.

Keith do S-H have distribution in the USA at present?

I have watched this discussion develope and am surprised nobody in the USA has posted a more helpful reply. The originator asked for 500-1000 mat boards cut 11 x 14 and 16 x 20. Any mat board mfg. in USA can cut this on a guillotine ( big machine that cuts 6 ins thick of board to smaller sizes in a few seconds)
Most decent printers can also cut down big sheets, but some may see it as a "nuisance job"

If you were a UK framer we would supply you through one of our UK dealers (vendors?). And to answer Dermot's question... No we do not have distribution in USA. There are over 15 mat board mfgs. in the states and I would have thought that's quite enough to supply domestic demand. If anyone reading this thinks you need another then by all means contact me, but not at any of the web sites that Dermot has posted. 3 times he's got it wrong!! Lovely people, lovely country, lousy spellers! Correct site is www.slater-harrison.co.uk or e-mail me at k.hewitt@slater-harrison.co.uk
Dermot ..Thanks for the plug

So sorry what can I say, I have checked the spelling, you are correct on screen your web address is wrong, yet when I go to edit for correction the spelling is OK…..I cannot figure this one out………well all you Tech guys any ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!! This one has me real puzzle.

You are so right we have a great country and the people are OK…….spelling…. not all are as bad as I am……I suffer from a mild form of dyslexia and spell check doesn’t always catch things, though keep at it the best cure for this dyslexia is for others to point out my mistakes, whatever effect this type of correction has my brain finally clicks in, it’s a good job you did not know me ten years ago, bad as my spelling is now it was appalling then but thanks to my good wife and others like yourself, that will take the time to correct me I have greatly improved.

Just go directly to Crescent or Bainbridge, your volume is sufficient to deal directly.
