manual underpinners

I have one from Britain which I love (and can't remember the name
right now!) but will check as soon as I'm back in the shop today. You'd probably be better off with a domestic if you can get it. As a matter of fact, why did I even mention this?

I have been using an ITW AMP Mitre-Mite for awhile now. It's great, haven't had any problems with it. I did reverse the manual mechanism to allow me to do the pinning from the back (?) side. I don't know anything about the other brand you mention although I know lots of folks have that brand.

I don't know whether you can purchase them in the US, but I use a "Euro" underpinner. Basic, but easy to use and reliable. The only problems I've had have been the occasional jammed wedge, which is easily rectified by removing the top plate.
Good tip is to keep PVA adhesive under control to prevent it getting into the mechanism and to light lubricate regularly. ( WD40 or GT85 or similar )

I also use a EURO 8008 the butterfly type great machine no problems……it is a very popular machine in Ireland

www.knoell.com Knoell are the US distributor

I don't know how "manual" you want to get , but I got a Benchmaster about a year ago and for $250.00, it does a super job. ( not for high production, though). It is advertised in Picture Framing Mag.

Artist... I have been looking at one of those as I too need an underpinner.... how does it work with larger, varied contour mouldings... any surprises? Thanks, Roz

I love my CASESSE foot powered!

And it can handle some BIG-ASS mouldings! :D

Hey have I got a deal for you. We have a new Brevetti Mod Basic foot operated vnailer in stock. This is a free standing model. We don't get a lot of call for them but I have sold two of them to customers and they love them. We have been sitting on this one for a while. This one was ordered by a customer who backed out of the sale after we had already recieved it. I just want to get rid of it. My cost was $800.00 plus freight, I will sell it for $700.00. If you are interested call DJ Wholesale Framers Supply at 800-657-6454.

I agree with Lessafinger.

For manual underpinners the Cassese is hard to beat.

I started out with the Euro but I prefer the Cassese. It handles deeper and wider mouldings and maintenance is much easier. It also has a moulding clamp which is useful. I have pneumatic equipment now but I still use the manual Cassese for some mouldings. I wouldn't be without it.

besthby,
Does Brevetti have a web-site? I found 1000's of sites for Brevetti, but they all have to do with Eurpoean patents.
Was hoping for a 'v-nailer' type site. Would like to see some facts and pix of the beast.
Thanks

Ron, think you're right...
