Does anyone have an opinion on which manual underpinner is good ITW/AMP (VN Manual) or Pistorius (VN-M) or the Cassese CS88? Does anyone own one of these and have some input whether good or bad?
Thanks, Dan

I have used a Pistorius VN-M for about 20 years. Used it only occasionally for a number of years after I purchased a Brevetti air nailer (from PAM) since higher production was needed at the time. Several years ago Brevetti quit making the v-nails for my model and I went back to using the Pistorius VN-M.

The VN-M is solid as a rock and contiues to work great once you learn to properly use it. I seriously question the gain in production speed between the air model Brevetti and the manual VN-M. The VN-M can be equiped with an air cylinder. I purchased this option but do not recommend it. The only negative I have regarding the VN-M is the difficulty in changing nail sizes.

The moral of this story is that the Pistorius model is still working great after much use and there is no problem getting nails and parts. The imported Brevetti was much more expensive and still works but lack of nails makes it only suitable as a door stop.

I have no experience with the other two models mentioned. Let me know if I can provide additional info.

Dan,

Click on the "search" link at the top and look for "underpinner". You'll get a lot of opinions – most of them worthless, of course, 'cept mine. ;)

Dan. I have beeb using the Cassesse for a number of years, with a fairly high volume of through put. The only problem I have had is with a broken steel cable.. Easily replaced.
V nails easy to get hold of and are handy in the plastic cassettes.
