A local artist sold a painting a few years ago. Now the artist has had paper prints and prints on canvas made of the painting and wants to sell them. What is the thought on this? I am sure the person who purchased the original isn't aware of this and certainly didn't imagine this would happen down the road. Thoughts?

This makes the original more valuable.

This is absolutely normal, as CB Art and framing said the copy right of an image remains with the artist unless they expressly sold it with the painting, if they did it would be in writing or if they had a specific agreement not to produce prints from it again it would be in writing.
Ted mentioned it makes the original more valuable, prints can raise the profile of an original by making it more well known and can increase the desirability of the original.
