Found some beautiful papers and would like to make my own beveled accents. But I need some advice. Anyone making their own? What kind of glue are you using to adhere the papers (some are very thick, some would soak up any glue that I'm aware of) to the foam board?

Any advice would be very helpful.

Thanks,

Janet Lowry

Janet, you can get Bevel Board from Crescent or Garrett Moulding, and the glue from Frank's fabric. Thick paper you can roll the glue and lay "wet" and thin paper, let the glue dry and then iron the paper on with the heat re-activated glue. Fast, simple, and inexpensive.

Thanks David & Baer!

Your answers have been a great help. Can't wait to begin using what we create with some of the paper we have.

If you want to match a paper mat color, you can strip the top ply off of scrap matboard by soaking it in water. When the top paper floats off, blot to remove excess moisture until it is not quite dry, then wet-form it over your glued, beveled foam center board, Gatorfoam, or whatever.

A few of the mat top papers usually discolor in the wet-stripping process, but I don't know why. Most of the time it works perfectly.
