I wish I took the class offered at one of the Expos, about making little jewelry type boxes and cha chas from leftover moulding. i think Roma has a whole line of them, but are there patterns anywhere? Most of my experimentations flop at the joining phase, then how do I make a cool lid for it? Suggestions all you artful all knowing and wise ones.....?

Little Conestoga,

Framerguy has made some of the best looking little boxes and things that I have seen.

Mabe he can do a tutorial.

I think there was some instructions a while back, on the Grumble. Try doing a search.

You probably won't be surprized to hear that Vivian Kistler has a book. I'm home and the book is at the shop, but it's called something like "Making Decorative Accessories from Mouldings." At least, that's what I would have called it. You can get it from Decor or probably other sources.

I took the class in Atlanta and, honestly, I was disappointed. But the idea is good and the book is quite thorough. (Vivian did not teach the class.)

And Mark's right. Framerguy is a master at this and, if he could speak English, he could probably run a very good workshop. Maybe he could answer specific questions through his interpreter, Robbie.

Nee nee nah nah new new to all of you from the planet Zorg!

My faithful canine interpretor and I are on vacation to our homeland and read about the query on boxes.

Actually, Robbie does most of the design work. I simply cut the pieces of wood and make them go together in a symetrical pattern (glueing, I think you call it). There are very sophisicated pieces of equipment that are used for this process on earth. (Here we just push them together and they take root on each other in about 4 of your seconds).

I'll get back to this thread when we return.

Qab, (that's Framerguy in Zorgosian)

I was wondering why you failed to respond to any of my recent taunts. That's very exasperating.

I'm looking at my Kistler book. There is a chapter on basic techniques and then lots and lots of project ideas.

If you ever need an elegant coffin for a hamster, this will show you how to do it. (Page 29.)

When I proposed to the lovely Blanche, I put the ring box in a box I had made from foam board. I put that in another foamboard box, which was in another, which was in another, which was in another which was in a box made from Crescent 7144.the outermost box had her name on it, and all but the innermost one said "Open Me". The innermost one said "Give Me To Seth". She did that, and I gave my oft-rehearsed speech and opened the ring box. After crying for five minutes, she finally said Yes. Friends, never underestimate the power of your scraps!

Now Ron, I was so excited about getting my new book and all these projects....now I have to go to the petstore and get a whole lotta HAMSTERS!!!!LOL :D
