Does anyone use a stand alone mailing list program?

Doesn'y it make sense to keep mass mailing lists in another program separated from my client list in Lifesaver?

It's just more work to maintain 2 mailing lists. Lifesaver can do it all. Just give them different codes. It is so easy to sort lists in Lifesaver. For example, on all regular customers you put an M in the catagory field when you enter their address, onn those you hope to never hear from again, put an X, on the commercial/business accts. put B. You can put whatever you want in it, F for family, P or personal friends, S for suppliers and on and on. You can print as many catagories as you need, or only one. You can sort them by name, zip, catagory, street, whatever, it's very easy. Sorting by zip is great if you use bulk mail. The list can be exported to another program, say for personalizing mailings "Dear Mr. XXX"etc. For sorting and printing labels and lists, LIfesaver is great.

Why can't someone bundle an accounting, POS, mailing list?

Hmmmmm?

I use Access for mailing.
Quickbooks for accounting. (my first year)
Boy, is there a lot to learn.
No POS yet.

Thanks Jo,

I'll have to pay more attention to what I already have. I just love to buy new play toys, so I tend to overlook resources I already have. Looks like I have some manual reading to do!

Specialty Soft bundles the POS side to the marketing side. You can do many reports that would give the base information that you would need for your accounting. COG, Inventory, Shrink ect. You can analyze your mail list by store, marketing code and you can do it in either Excel or Word. Word has mail merge or you can download the Avery Lable software. If you want you can pull reports that give you customer sales, with address and dollar amounts spent then in Microsoft Map Point, demographically place your customers so you can buy new lists in those zips where most your customers are comming from. Very flexible. (Note: I don't know if their lite version gives you all of these features.
