Magnifying glass on glazing?

I've never done it, but I think you could glue a fresnel lens on with small dabs of adhesive. It would be thin and I think you can cut them to size if you're careful.

Seems wise to make sure it never catches sunlight. Wouldn't want to start a fire.

Doesn't a fresnel lens need to be pushed against an object in order to focus the magnification? I'm wondering if there are thicker acrylic magnifiers that could be welded to the glazing with acetone.. Though this might interact badly with any UV coating and cause cracking/crazing.
