A customer brought in a metal frame that I have never seen before(and I have been around for a looooong time) It looks like a miniature #11. The channel on the back is 5/16. I need hanging hardware to fit in the channel. Called Neilson because it has Neilson corners but no luck.

Nielsen? can you post a picture is a old or new frame?

Doesn't the relatively new mini Nielsen profile take special, narrow corner hardware OR is is just the handing hardware that's special?

Packages of hardware should be available from your Nielsen distributor. We order the individual packets as needed from LJ.

Sorry, but I'm not at the store today to check the part numbers.

I think the profile number was 1 and was around back in the late 80's.

This was not one of their OEM mouldings.

I already called Nielsen and they don't know what I'm talking about. Here are some pictures to help you help me

OK, I've seen some of those frames come in. I simply refuse to work with them. Just tell the customer that you no longer support that style of metal frame, and they will need to purchase a new frame.

Just like you'll have a hard time finding someone who can repair a TV set from the 1970s.

Well I have no idea what kind of knock off that is, I would just drill a hole into the back, maybe attach a S hook and then wire or upgrade to new frame.

Nielsen Profile No. 4

I believe that is correct - No. 4 profile... existed indeed in the late 1980's and I also recall seeing it big in the UK or Australia (where metal seems to be considered more of an inexpensive alternative.)

It's NOT a knock-off, it's a REAL Nielsen profile. :D

I may still have the hardware in a box - saved it for years, but it might have been tossed out in the "Big Move". I'll check when I go in to the shop tomorrow.

You could also check with a hardware supplier like Frameware, Inc. 800 582-5608 to see if the hardware like 449S or 449P type hardware would work for your frame.

They are designed for #186 type moulding but may work on the old #4 profile.

Another option is to drill through the chanel and thread the hole with a tap (probably 8/32), then use a "d" ring hanger and a machine screw to secure on each side. (Defit the piece before doing so :) )

Neilsen was only offering 2 kinds of hardware when i worked there: it was the standard set and the guilded set, both come in wire or sawtooth. I have heard of some customers cutting the hardware to fit to size, but its very difficult and probly not too safe.

Good luck!
