I have two different jobs that need cork board. One is an area surrounding a dartboard(to protect the wall) and the other is just a regular cork board. Does anybody have any sources?
Thanks so much!

Timothy's Hardware sells it by the yard/roll-

They are the same people who make z-bar abd z-gel.

They also have a bunch of framing products that are not well publicised but very useful!

I've never been able to find a source where you can just buy it mounted in sheets. You can sometimes find thin sheets in rolls but mounting it is a pain.

The main source I use (depending on how big you are looking for) is Staples (the office supply store). My local store carries 30x40, 36x48 and 40x60. all framed in that cheap little laminate stuff but I just take that frame off and cut it to custom size and custom frame it.

Try http www.jelinek.com I have ordered rolls of cork from them and then drymounted it to foamboard for bulletin board. They can supply you with various thicknesses.

If ou are covering a wall, and not making a framed panel, there are cork tiles that are self adhesive. They are thicker than the roll/sheet stuff too, just the thing for the area around a dart board.Try a home improvemnet store,or online. L.

We have picked it up by the roll at a large lumber yard.

You can also get creative with materials. I have a designer client who uses various acoustical sound boards.

I used loads of 12"sq floor tiles to make notice boards. Mounted with impact adhesive. A less messy method for smaller areas is heavy duty double-sided carpet tape which is very sticky and long lasting. Some I did 15 years ago are still stuck like the proverbial.

* If you cover a tile with double-stick, leaving the release paper on one side and slice it into 1/2" strips, you have a ready supply of frame bumpers which can be chopped off as you need them. Also good for making little spacers for holding canvases in place in a frame.

Thanks for the reply's !
I should have mentioned the size 37.5 x 50.5 so the 40x60 could work!
But the tiles are an interesting thought. Do the cork tiles smell really bad? I dont know why I am asking but seem to remember that for some reason?
(and Paul SF you are just too funny!!!! Sending you a cyber smack!)
